I know there are many mods/add-ons that add a headstone at the point of one's death that saves their inventory when they die. (I looked for a 1.13.1 version of these mods, I did not find one). I propose that we add some variation of this system when one becomes available.

I have personally lost hours of work through unavoidable deaths that a system like this would have helped me recover.

I personally would be for something like this.  However, as an alternative to saving the items in a nice little gravestone, is death death markers.  If I remember right, the headstone mechanic also includes a waypoint/marker of said death.  If we are against saving items upon death, how about at the very minimum a waypoint so we know where we died?

If you know a death is unavoidable why not drop your gear in a chest and use back up iron tools and leather gear?  I mean if there was no fear of loss of xp or gear from death I would probably die a lot more out of recklessness. Also I have lost Fully enchanted diamond gear three times now.  So I know how hard it is to loose it all.

I have been considering the idea of adding tombstones that contains the inventory of the player that died at that spot. That way, other players may either steal that persons gear, find it at a later date as long lost treasure while exploring or the inventory owner can go back to where they died (if they remember correctly) and gather their belongings.

I would not, however add a way to see coordinates of last death or any waypoint back to your last death spot on the server side. That is your responsibility, with either your memory, or a third party map mod for Minecraft.

That sounds like a fair compromise.

I wasn't concerned so much about the beacon part of those mods, I was just wanting a way to recover the items. Also, Vik, A lot of times these "Unavoidable" deaths are also unforseen deaths, hence why one would die with all their high level loot.

I will be working to implement this over the next coming week, I believe I will have to update an older plugin to the latest Minecraft versions but it should not be hard. I have some form of internet access if needed now, so I can work :)
